About the Kits
Back Print Page Email Page

Thousands of sailors young and old have built our kits and had a wonderful time. We have developed simple building processes that produce light, elegant and fast rc sailboats. Many hours, and in some cases many years, have gone into perfecting these designs so the boats sail beautifully and are easy and fun to build.

The input from hundreds of customers who have suggested ideas like schooners and trimarans and bigger boats has been a terrific help over the years in making our boats the best boats available today. I am always eager to listen to new ideas and suggestions! All of our boats are designed to be real sailboats and to perform beautifully. I have sailed all of my life and I take great pride in every one of our designs. The advent of affordable and absolutely reliable RC gear in recent years has opened a whole new era for model rc sailboats and rc sailboat racing. The thrill of having absolute control of your boat as you fly around a mark is something that is worth experiencing. It takes some skill because it is easy enough in the excitement of the moment to go the wrong way with the rudder in which case you may fly far afield in just a few seconds. The strong feeling of camaraderie with the other sailors is a great feature of rc sailboat racing as well. All the skills of reading the wind and tacking smoothly and quickly and setting the sails perfectly for your course are fun and exciting to acquire. Unlike flying model airplanes, you cannot destroy your boat if you make a mistake in the learning process! At worst you might put a small nick in the front edge of your keel which will be easy to touch up. I have seen some dramatic encounters at high speed with rock jetties when a youngster went the wrong way with the steering control, but the yacht was hardly affected at all. Our boats will still be sailing many years from now. That is the beauty of wood, it is very durable! Why not build a boat today?
