Our Company Story
Back Print Page Email Page

Hi, my name is Will Lesh. I started our company 25 years ago. I grew up with a beautiful model sailboat that had been built many years before I was born. I felt that the world was a lesser place without beautiful model sailboats for youngsters to grow up with and for adults to enjoy. I wanted to bring the wonderful boats back. And now we have brought them back with 55,000 boats launched.

We started in a small garage in a residential neighborhood in Seattle, but as we grew larger we needed more space so we moved 2 hours north of Seattle to Everson, Washington. We now have a fine big woodworking shop and a separate building for shipping and assembly. Our buildings are surrounded by woods and streams and it is very beautiful here.

Our earliest models were mostly free-sailing boats, but as the years  passed we added more and more radio control boats until now this is our specialty. Instead of selling look-alike plastic boats manufactured overseas, we have maintained the tradition of building beautiful wooden sailing boats here in this country and offering them as easily built and affordable kits. When I hear so many wonderful stories from owners all over the world, I am convinced that the pleasure of building and sailing a truly beautiful wooden boat far exceeds the pleasure of sailing something made of plastic. A wooden yacht is a work of art and has an enduring beauty that only grows richer as the boat ages.

By marrying the highest tech modern materials with very light but durable woods we create ultra high performance boats that are some of the most beautiful model boats that have ever been built. In joining this beautiful tradition you will find great pleasure. Sailing these boats is exciting and provides years of fun.

I have sailed all of my life. I sailed a 24 foot wooden boat that I built myself across the Atlantic and now I cruise on our 34 foot San Juan sloop in the waters of the Pacific Northwest (join us on our NW adventure following Vancouver's voyage to the Broughton Islands by clicking here on Broughton Island) Along with all of this big boat sailing that I do, I have just as much fun sailing our model yachts. Sailing model boats is a terrific activity for anyone who loves boats and loves being around the water!
